The Division of Social Services is aware that the recently implemented childcare copayment redesign resulted in some families experiencing increased copayments. In an effort to mitigate this unintended financial burden, the Division is offering families an opportunity to apply for a hardship waiver. To qualify, the family’s total monthly copayment increase has to be $150 or more per month.
Please note that this is a short-term solution as plans for a permanent remedy are underway. Qualifying families may receive help through the end of August 2019. Families only need to apply once. This waiver will end if the permanent fix is in place before August 2019.
We are also reinstating a revised version of the shelter and utility deduction that was eliminated when the copay changes were implemented. Details on that to follow.
