Special Olympics of Delaware: Young Athletes Programs

Special Olympics Delaware (SODE) specializes in coordinating and facilitating competitive sports for individuals with ID/IDD. We offer adaptive sports options that are inclusive to all. The competitive sports are available for individuals once they turn eight years old. What about before then? We have a program for Young Athletes too!

For children between 2 & 7 years old, the Young Athletes Program provides introductory fitness and sports exposure and gives children/families an introduction to Special Olympics. For individuals with an ID diagnosis, they can become athletes, and for those without an ID diagnosis, they can become Unified Partners–ANYONE can participate in Special Olympics!

My Child DE is a user-friendly website that brings together resources to help families, providers and other caretakers make informed choices for the children of Delaware. The goal of My Child DE is to help these groups feel welcome, informed and empowered to engage, learn and take the next steps needed to support children.
