Supporting Family-Led Developmental Monitoring (Training for ECE Professionals) 5/19/22

The Delaware Readiness Teams will host a Supporting Developmental Monitoring and Screening through Professional Development (aka Learn the Signs Act Early Train-the-trainer Session) on Thursday, May 19th from 12:30-1:30 via zoom. This training was developed by the University of Delaware Center for Disabilities Studies in collaboration with the Delaware Department of Education Office of Early Learning.

The first training, Supporting Family-Led Developmental Monitoring, is for early learning professionals and will: (a) introduce participants to the importance of developmental monitoring; (b) provide an overview of the state’s developmental screener – the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ); (c) explain the state’s process for referring children to early intervention services; and (d) describe the types of early intervention services available to different ages of children. The second training, I am the Expert on my Child! How to Support my Child’s Growth and Development: https://youtu.be/qdTkmy7TRWo, is designed for families. It provides a similar overview as the provider training while highlighting the importance of developmental milestones, and developmental monitoring and screening. The train-the-trainer session on May 19th will provide details on how to implement both the provider and family training.
